Dublin HOR 2010

Last Saturday three Queen’s crews competed in Dublin, two ladies and one men’s crew. The men entered the novice eight, whilst the ladies entered a novice and intermediate eight.

The women’s intermediate eight put in a strong performance, winning their category in a time of 15:27.7, almost 7 seconds ahead of DULBC. The women’s novice eight raced against novice and junior opposition finishing third in a time of 17:02.5, almost 58 seconds behind winners UCD. The novice crew must harness their potential through improved technique if they are to be successful come regatta season.

The novice men, like the novice ladies, finshed third in their category in a time of 14:38.3. This left them 50 seconds behind winners UCD and 41 seconds behind second placed Trinity. A more concerted effort is required if they are to compete with these two crews on the short course.

Winners of the head were UCD men’s senior eight who beat Commercial into second, finishing in a time of 12:46.5. This placed them 6.6 seconds ahead of Commercial. This gives Queen’s good insight for this weekend’s HORR were both crews will be up against Queen’s.
